normally people would write this post prior to new years eve. but who gives a fuck..
well here goes nothing..
2005 has been a very interesting year, with its pro's and con's but over the course of 20 years of living, i'd say this year is the most memorable. this year has brought me maturity over so many levels. experiences which one must experience first hand to actually understand.
to start off; i've finally graduated with my higher national diploma in telecomm. engineering. with an unofficial cgpa of 3.192 / 4. i wouldnt really call that a brilliant score but for one who practically fucked up his first 2 semesters in soo many levels. thats considered awesome. this semester i only achieved 3.565 / 4. its lower than i expected, but what can i say, by the end of it i was already too lazy to study and just wanted to graduate. for some or most people, this doesnt sound like much of an achievement. but its one hell of a huge one for me, cus looking back at my high school report card where the highest grade i had during form 5 was english (B4 only). then finally prooving something during SPM by getting 2A's rest credits including B4 in addmath. i was not even a mediocre student, fuck i was a poor student. so poor that my parents expected least 2 fails. but i was lucky enough to get a placing in a local uni offering engineering. which was brilliant, since i was from an arts class. fucking up the first 2 semesters didnt help prove much either. at last, finally starting from the 3rd semester a hint of my true potential. ironically, for 2 1/2 years i've bitched about how fucked up is my college. yet honestly speaking, that crappy college is where i found out my true potential, character and strength.
finally, this last semester i did well enough to get into Deans list. which i promised to my parents i'll do when i first entered college.

another highlight is my trip to uk in june.
it took me a gruelsome 1 1/2 year to collect enough money for my expenditure there. financially shuffling money around like a madman. it was hard, i lost so much weight over the year and many times did i thought of just giving up the trip. though i only brought just barely enough, i was still there and for a person who've endured a year plus of hardship in terms of money, starvation and also window shopping only. it was already like heavenly. i bought more things than i planned, went to all the places i wanted to see and fell inlove with europe instantly.
some say, travelling with a low budget isnt fulfilling enough. on the contrary, if you've workd hard and long just to go to that destination. no matter how little money you've brought, it is already fulfilling enough. its just something you need to experience firsthand.
and like a friend o mine said,
'if your there to shop, your on a holiday.. not travelling'
its the experience of booking bus tickets 2 weeks before departure, just so you'd get it at 3 pounds instead of 7. the long walk to the local market to get fresh food to cook personally. getting lost even with a map at hand. the facination of observing the diverse culture and how they go on with their daily lives.
only then do you appreciate the smaller things. things which we totally wouldnt give a flying fuck most of the time at home. our national language, money, family and finally the mouth savouring taste of a good ol home cooked meal.
making this year more memorable. i was not only able to visit uk, but italy and brisbane as well. italy was beautiful with its culture and its priceless history. oh so beautiful venice, a place which i absolutely recommend for any honeymooners to go. citylife florence, a small town yet soo many things to see and lastly, ancient rome, a place filled with christian heritage and history.
frankly speaking, my trip to brisbane wasnt exactly lucky. truth is, i was just replacing my dads place to see my sister graduate. he couldnt make it since a close uncle of mine passed away just few days before departure.

2005 also brought changes into the family. i now have a nephew who's just 3 months old. he's so huge right now, you'd just have to see him. latest problem is that my niece gets envious if i play with my nephew for too long. hehe. the passing of my uncle totally shocked the whole family. it was sudden and mysterious, but it has brought my attention to appreciate life. especially in mine, since it forever taking turns every so frequently. i feel more adult yet at times unsure if i am able to handle being one. my grandma now stays in my house, thus the family now feels so huge. theres a total of 11 of us in the house now including the maids. i'm sleeping on the floor these days, giving space for my grandma and uncle. but its nothing big, cus im used to it. the family really does feel closer these days.

personally, this year has matured me to be an adult.
i know now the hardship of achieving ones goal. the determination needed to reach something. perseverance when shit really hits u in the face. understanding others before being understood. losing some just to win some. finally, the sheer ecstacy of joy when you achieve that goal/target.
shown before in local television:
"Long term goal : Getting a diploma." - Done.
"Medium term goal : Reaching Europe." - Done plus another continent. ;)
"Short term goal : Getting Deans list." - Done.
now how often do you achieve so many goals in life. heh. i'm right on track for my future.
life goal:
a house on the beach.
a solid and happy family
happy life
career goal:
not planned yet.
education goal:
masters in engineering by the age of 26
phd
personal goals:
subaru impreza by 27
never ever be overweight. exercise till 70 years old.

heh. well, another year has passed and im still single. thats something which even i put 100% effort, itll never be guaranteed. truth is, itll come when it comes. like most thi ngs in life, u gotta experience the bad before appreciating the good. i've put all bad vibes behind me and am quite happy with the fact that i can mingle and talk without the history budding in.
least there isnt any hate nor avoidance going on. which i'm truly grateful for.
